Join our Women’s History Month Transcribathon

Follow the stories of six women who held different positions in society as performers, mathematicians, musicians and writers, and contributed to enriching their fields and breaking barriers. They left glimpses of their lives through pieces of text and letters they wrote. You can help share their stories by joining our transcribathon run until the end of March.

Five trailblazing female stained glass artists

The challenge of selecting just five trailblazing women is a unique one when exploring a gallery filled with talented and accomplished artists. Explore the collection from the Stained Glass Museum in England, a hidden gem of a gallery which displays over 800 years of stained glass history, from the medieval to the modern, the secular and the sacred.

Marie Curie

Marie Curie was a physicist and chemist who conducted groundbreaking research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win a Nobel Prize twice, and remains the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two scientific fields. This gallery contains photos and other archival materials about her life and work.

Mansplaining in art

Added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2018, the word mansplaining refers to condescending and chauvinistic behaviour, often directed by men towards women, but the idea has been around for ages. We take a light-hearted look through the archives.
